Who We Are
Kgwakgwa Legacy Digital Academy is currently operated by Katlego Kgwakgwa as a sole proprietorship. Kgwakgwa Legacy Holdings (Pty) Ltd is the company structure intended for this venture; formal registration with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) has not yet been completed. This policy will be updated with full company registration details once that process is finalised. In the meantime, this policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and how it is protected in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
Information We Collect
- Newsletter signup: your email address, and optionally your first name.
- Course progress: if you create an account in future, your name, email, and lesson completion data.
- Usage data: pages visited, general location (country/city level), device and browser type, collected automatically via analytics tools.
- Contact form or email: any information you choose to include when you contact us directly.
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18. The Academy's content is intended for adult learners.
How We Use Your Information
- To send the newsletter and course-related emails you've signed up for.
- To track your progress through free courses, where accounts are enabled.
- To understand which content is useful, so we can improve the Academy.
- To respond to questions sent to us directly.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your email address with affiliate partners — clicking an affiliate link takes you directly to the partner's own website, which has its own separate privacy policy.
Legal Basis for Processing
We process your information based on your consent (for example, subscribing to the newsletter), and our legitimate interest in operating and improving a free educational platform.
How Long We Keep Your Information
We retain newsletter and account information for as long as you remain subscribed or your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
Your Rights Under POPIA
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
- Ask us to delete your information or unsubscribe you at any time.
- Object to how your information is being used.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe your information has been mishandled.
